Future of building looks green

Toronto Star

Students in a new Humber College course will be on the leading green edge of the building industry. The three-year, full-time Sustainable Energy and Building Technology (SEBT) program, which launches in September, focuses on renewable energy and aspects of building design and construction that influence energy efficiency. "It's a pretty comprehensive program and we're responding to what the building industry is telling us," says program co-ordinator Robert Hellier. He says students will learn about renewable energy – including solar, wind and geo-exchange systems – battery technology, energy conservation and building sciences, such as heating, cooling, thermodynamics, lighting and water.
