Toy Factory passes go, collects $200

The Globe and Mail

To reveal future personality traits and even forecast possible occupations, watch little children sit down to jigsaw puzzles. A pastime that requires much patience and concentration, some will persevere for the payoff of the finished picture, others will drift off into dreamland and get very little done, and still others will throw the pieces up in the air in a fit of frustration. Sheldon Levitt of Quadrangle Architects must have been a very good puzzle-maker as a kid. Nearing completion at the corner of Hanna Avenue and an extended Liberty Street (now called East Liberty Street) sits what might be the largest puzzle of Mr. Levitt's adult life: the Toy Factory Lofts. And, as he hovers over a maquette of the toy building in the model suite, pointing out tiny features that are now writ large in the massive complex outside, two things become clear: He has a child-like enthusiasm for the project and he's still got game.
