Nathan Phillips Square Design Competition Zeidler Partnership Architects Submission

They propose to enlarge the footprint of the existing square so it opens up fully to the public. For example, tour buses on Queen Street that now block a view of the square from the south side would be relocated to Bay Street. Their idea is to create two well-defined zones, one for formal occasions and another for informal, flexible uses by individuals. A linear garden on the west side would be designed to allow for storage of equipment that now gives a cluttered feel to the square.
