They propose to enlarge the footprint of the existing square so it opens up fully to the public. For example, tour buses on Queen Street that now block a view of the square from the south side would be relocated to Bay Street. Their idea is to create two well-defined zones, one for formal occasions and another for informal, flexible uses by individuals. A linear garden on the west side would be designed to allow for storage of equipment that now gives a cluttered feel to the square.
