The winners of the Institute of Design Montréal Awards were announced at a gala awards ceremony held this evening under the honorary presidency of Benoît Labonté, Mayor of the Ville-Marie Borough. A jury composed of national and international design specialists in each competition category and presided by Michel Branchaud, President of Groupe Montaigne, evaluated all the projects entered in the competition. Of the 28 projects that passed first screening, the jury selected 19 finalists whose works were exemplary reflections of the criteria specific to each of the competition categories.

The Théâtre du Vieux-Terrebonne, by Manon Asselin, Katsuhiro Yamazaki, Atelier T.A.G. + Jodoin Lamarre Pratte et associés Architectes, won the architecture award. The citation reads "Through its intimate symbiosis with this landscape, the new theatre is an interface between nature and culture and a celebration of the city's historic origins. While the project suggests a set design in which every space is orchestrated to promote the theatre's civic and cultural vocation, a succession of settings prolongs the fictional narrative as much for the solitary wanderer in the park as for the crowd gathering in the public square."
