Voices: Waterfront competition

Toronto Star

The Toronto Waterfront Revitalization Corporation has announced the five teams selected to compete for the re-design of Toronto's waterfront between the Western Gap and the Parliament St. slip. We asked you what you think about the concepts presented. Here's what you had to say. What the waterfront needs most is to be reconnected to the city. Right now if you walk to it from the north, it feels like you are walking into a wasteland by the time you reach the Gardiner. Why not build some nice routes to the waterfront, a few continuous paths that join the entire area and are away from traffic, then have park areas and places where families, friends and tourists alike can all just come and escape the city and admire the natural beauty of the area. We don’t need any more towers of concrete, steel and glass. They’ve ruined the waterfront enough already.
