Recent designs give us some hope
Torontonians still sneer when they talk about condos, but these days, there are just as likely to be reasons to smile. For example, just last week, Minto became the first Canadian developer to receive a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification for a multi-unit residential building. The fact the winning project, Radiance @ Minto Gardens, is at Sheppard Ave. and Yonge St. makes it all the more remarkable. Here, in the city that former mayor Mel Lastman insisted had heart, sustainability has never been a factor. But we've got to start somewhere, and the former North York is as good a place as any.
