Canadian Museum of Human Rights
The proposed $300-million Canadian Museum of Human Rights will be a stage on which the accomplishments of the world's greatest champions of human rights will be celebrated, not a warehouse for dusty historical artifacts, the chief architect and museum consultant said yesterday. Architect Antoine Predock and consultant Ralph Appelbaum told a group of business and political elite the Winnipeg-based museum, scheduled to open in 2010, will be unlike any other museum or memorial in the world. The museum is the brain child of the late Israel Asper, founder of the CanWest Global media empire and one of Winnipeg's most prominent benefactors.
