Graduate students at the University of Waterloo architecture school want to understand the impact of their new school on their new home. The students are also eager to propose ways the school and students can boost the economy, reputation and lifestyle of the heart of old Galt. Moving the world-renowned school from its cramped quarters in Waterloo to a renovated textile mill on the Grand River was expected to boost the downtown economy. A feasibility study into the $27-million move to Cambridge predicted the school would generate economic gains of $55 million to $65 million in the city's economy within a decade.
