The issue in the development dispute in Halifax is not between "progressive" architectural design and conformity to some historical model (Contested Twin Towers Draw Student Support -- March 6). The question is whether new buildings should be required to be sensitive to the human scale of the existing cityscape or whether they should be allowed to remake downtown Halifax in their own image.
