Canadians, both Jewish and non-Jewish, are undertaking a $2-million project to help revitalize Jerusalem’s city centre, which has been in serious decline for years and especially since the start of the intifadah. The Royal Bank of Canada will host the campaign’s kickoff in Toronto March 7, under the chairmanship of its vice-president for governmental affairs, Charles Coffey, an honorary member of the board of the Jerusalem Foundation of Canada, the organization overseeing the campaign. Renowned architect Moshe Safdie, an honorary member of the foundation’s Canadian board, is expected to volunteer his expertise to the project as well.
