Vancouver Art Gallery 'definitely' on the move

The Globe and Mail

The Vancouver Art Gallery is on the move. Director Kathleen Bartels says the gallery is still looking at a few possible sites for the new facility, but a final decision is close. A definitive announcement, she says, will be made in the next couple of months. Two years ago, a master planning committee was formed to examine the gallery's possibilities for physical expansion. The gallery had outgrown its current home in the city's former provincial courthouse at the corner of Georgia and Hornby streets. Michael Maltzan Architecture Inc. of Los Angeles was hired to prepare a report for the gallery's board of trustees.
