Praise for new ROM galleries

Toronto Star

Andrew Lee had nothing but praise for the new galleries that opened yesterday at the ROM. "I thought it was really great because they had lots of exhibits from Asia," the 21-year-old Toronto student told the Star. "I saw artifacts that I had not seen in any other museum before." Lee said he was particularly impressed by the "less-cluttered layout" of the new wings, among the first in a $233 million rebuilding program at the ROM. The new spaces will feature the art and archaeology of China, Japan and Korea and a gallery will be devoted to artifacts created by Canada's Aboriginal Peoples. This is the first time in 25 years that the ROM has had a permanent location for its First Peoples collection.
