War memorial by Libeskind to honour Jews

The Globe and Mail

The first war memorial in honour of Canadian Jews who fought in the First and Second World Wars is set to break ground tomorrow. Dubbed Flames of Memory by its designer, world-renowned architect Daniel Libeskind, it will feature two walls -- one with the names of those who died and the other with the names of those who survived. "It's being built 60 years too late," said Lou VanDelman, executive director of the Jewish War Veterans of Canada. "But after all the veterans are gone, the memorial will speak for them."
