Star architect snubs Edmonton again

Edmonton Journal

Prize-winning London architect Zaha Hadid won't be in Edmonton tonight to make a public presentation about her proposed design for the city's new downtown art gallery. The winner of last year's prestigious Pritzker Prize will instead send a partner in her firm, Patrik Schumacher, who is listed as gallery project manager. Hadid is one of four world-class architects competing to build an addition to the Edmonton Art Gallery, a project with a construction budget of about $27 million. The Iraqi-born architect is the only one of the principal designers who has not visited the city since the competition began in April.
