Competition idea of U of T professor

Toronto Star

I was puzzled and troubled to see (renowned architect) Daniel Libeskind allege that people at the University of Toronto's architecture school disparaged the design of Toronto's new city hall. The fact of the matter is that it was a senior member of the faculty, Eric Arthur, who, together with students, conceived the idea of the international design competition that led to the selection of Viljo Revell's design. Professor Arthur persuaded city council to conduct the competition, and then went on to help shepherd the project to completion.
