New fund helps old buildings shine again
In Thorold, Ont., Phil Ritchie is using a little over $300,000 in free federal money to help restore an 1846 flour mill into a viable residential and commercial complex. In Ottawa, Alan Whitten, has about $62,000 from the same source to restore a 1930s vintage fire station to its original glory and turn it into office space for a pair of design firms.
