A house that's one with nature

The Globe and Mail

This West Vancouver house has two key elements of modern architecture: clean lines and open spaces. Because it is set into a rock face, a traditional concept of a residential home is reversed. You enter the dwelling at the top level, where you encounter the principal entertaining rooms, and then proceed down two levels where the bedrooms are. In keeping with its site, architecture and informal nature, this home is an open book. There are few walls to impede your view of the whole floor area and, indeed, to the extraordinary views of the sea. From an architectural point of view, the top level is anchored by the dining room.
