Hydro fine-tunes plans

Winnipeg Free Press

Manitoba Hydro has fine-tuned design plans for its new downtown headquarters, but officials said a final design won't be determined until the end of the summer. Hydro spokesman Glenn Schneider said the utility's integrated design team has preliminary designs for a 21-storey, 600,000-square-foot building on a block south of Portage Avenue between Carlton and Edmonton streets. The designs released yesterday make the project appear like a U-shaped building with a rooftop patio and a soaring wall structure extending beyond the top of the building. "We're releasing this design to keep the community involved as we go along the design process," Schneider said.
