UBC selects design finalists

The Globe and Mail

Although it's luscious and green, the University of British Columbia is not exactly easy to navigate. Any visitor who has ever found themselves hopelessly lost among the campus's scattered buildings will appreciate the need for architectural cohesion, or, at the very least, a proper entranceway. And now that three finalists have been selected for UBC's ambitious University Boulevard Architectural Competition, the Vancouver school is one step closer to finding its way out of the maze. The three international finalists, selected last week from a shortlist of seven firms, are Allies and Morrison Architects of London, Moore Ruble Yudell Architects and Planners of Santa Monica, Calif., and Patkau Architects of Vancouver.
