Architect Gerry McMaster has a piece of advice for professionals interested in establishing good working relationships with their clients: Put them on the payroll. It may sound like a radical idea but Mr. McMaster knows what he's talking about. He's not just an employee of Young + Wright Architects Inc. of Toronto; he's also their client. Or, at least, that's the way he likes to think of himself. As Young + Wright's first in-house building project manager, he was brought on board five years ago with the express purpose of supervising the expansion plans of AMC Theatres of Kansas City, Mo., a leading multiplex movie exhibitor and key Young + Wright client.
