Edmonton-based engineering firm Stantec Inc. is engineering yet another buyout. This time it's getting ready to scoop up Dunlop Architects Inc., one of the country's top design firms, with 100 people in offices in Toronto and Hamilton. Dunlop, founded in 1953 by octogenarian Canadian-architecture patriarch Dan Dunlop, is especially well known for educational and state-of-the-art medical and research facilities. In June, publicly traded Stantec gobbled up both GBR Architects, a 35-employee firm in Winnipeg, and Architectura, a 100-person firm in Vancouver.
