Celebrity rules in pursuit of Gehry

Toronto Star

Ah, the life of a celebrity architect. It's not easy, just ask Frank Gehry. Travelling the globe trying to keep up with what the Joneses want. Chicago one night, Barcelona the next. Designing concert halls, wineries, hockey trophies ... parties, openings, receptions, interviews, photo ops, TV cameras ... Paris on the phone asking about pink titanium and Brad, back at the office, says Jennifer has a couple of questions and can't wait for you to get back. And in Toronto, the "hometown" you put behind you more than half a century ago, endless demands from nervous directors, reluctant philanthropists, nasty reporters, smarmy columnists, as well as the usual gaggle of sycophants, cynics and wannabes. Some hang on your every word, others just want to hang you out to dry.
