At 80, Arthur Erickson has earned the right to be called a survivor. Indeed, at this point in his life, he has been around long enough to have gone in and out of favour several times over.In town this week to celebrate the start of his ninth decade, the venerable Vancouver architect showed there's a lot of life left still in Canada's most distinguished practitioner. The ever-urbane Erickson, who may also qualify as the country's most civilized man, has become the Frank Lloyd Wright of Canada. Like the great American architect, Erickson has spent time in the international spotlight and toiled in obscurity. Now, after the success of the Tacoma Glass Museum in Washington State, which opened in 2002, he is back on top.
