Integral Jean Beaudoin of Montreal has been placed second in an international architecture competition "The Monument of the Immortals".
The aim of the competition was to produce a design for a monument that will serve as the bridge between the history of the ancient and modern Olympiads by listing the names of all victors from the start of the games in 776 BC through the modern resurrection in 1896 and for the next 1,000 years. The names will be listed in the native tongue of the victor, introducing a global element to the project. The Monument of the Immortals is expected to have a significant impact on the local economy and regional tourism. Additional site plans include public grounds for ceremonies and celebrations, a registry of Olympians, and gift shop.

Competitors from 48 countries and 30 US states registered and submitted designs for consideration. The shortlisted five finalists received a cash prize of $5,000 (USD) and resubmit reviseded proposals in early May.
The selection committee consisted of an internationally renowned group of architects, artists, sculptors and cultural representatives from Bolivia, Cyprus, Israel, Greece and the United States of America.
The Monument of the Immortals is a non-profit organization in California (USA) and Cyprus dedicated to establishing a monument in Olympia, Greece, the municipality of the ancestral home of the Olympic Games, to honor the history and sportsmanship of Olympic competitors and revive the ancient tradition of inscribing the names of Olympic victors.
Currently Jean Beaudoin is in Beijing to teach his interdisciplinary approach in architectural competitions at the Central Academy of Fine Arts. The subject is the Paris 2012 Olympic Landmark and the workshop is given with Professor Song who is in charge of the visual identity of the 2008 Olympics.

According to Beaudoin, "On the Plaza slightly elevated over a long stairway affirmatively announcing the vastness and universal nature of the Olympics, glazed gateways, each acknowledging the cities having hosted the Olympics will convey the visitors to enter the site."
"From the Plaza of Olympic Cities, the visitor will venture thru the Forest of Ancient Games onto a clearing that will unveil the Field of Victors, an ever growing field of Light and glass poles celebrating and powerfully stating the size of the Olympics."
