68-storey tower may raise skyline

Toronto Star

After several years of stops and start, Trump International relaunched its condo-hotel in Toronto's financial district last week. The 68-storey, 308-metre tower, to be built on a parking lot at the corner of Bay and Adelaide Sts., has had a bumpy ride since it was first announced in 2000, including withdrawal of the Ritz-Carleton hotel chain in 2002 after the Star revealed one of the original developers had been convicted of bankruptcy fraud in the U.S. and had skipped the country. In its most recent incarnation, Trump International Hotel & Tower, Toronto, has all the hallmarks of the Trump brand: super-luxurious and glitzy, with prices to match, at an average of about $800 per square foot.
