Downtown Ottawa is crying out for public space and greenery among the towers and parking lots. So why don't more people know about the Garden of the Provinces? This under-appreciated 1960s urban gem has recently undergone a $2.5-million restoration that recognizes its importance as a handsome example of modern landscape design. "If you don't know this place, go see it. You'll be surprised and really smitten with it," says John Zvonar, a landscape architect who wants Ottawans to rediscover this "invisible landscape.
