Museum names design finalists

CBC

Late media baron Izzy Asper's dream of a Canadian Museum for Human Rights came a step closer to realization Thursday, when the project's architectural review committee announced the three finalists vying to design the museum. Two Montreal firms and a third from the U.S. will each receive $100,000 – the award previously set for the groups who reached this stage of a design competition for the museum. The Canadian candidates are Saucier + Perrotte Architectes, which was selected by the Canada Council in January as the country's representative at the 2004 Venice Biennale in Architecture, and Dan Hanganu Architects & The Arcop Group, which was responsible for the new storage wing at the Canada Aviation Museum in Ottawa.
