At Morningside Dr. and Ellesmere Rd., in darkest Scarborough, Centennial College is finishing a building project that will redefine the institution and, just maybe, bring a whole new level of urbanity and architectural sophistication to this instantly forgettable suburban neighbourhood. Designed by Kuwabara Payne McKenna Blumberg, one of Canada's leading practices, the $65 million structure occupies what was until recently empty space on the southwest corner of the University of Toronto's Scarborough campus. Though the budget was as tight as KPMB has ever had to deal with, the results are nothing short of spectacular.
