Church at the centre

Toronto Star

It usually takes 300 years to finish building a cathedral. But the Cathedral of The Transfiguration will be completed within 30 years. For 20 years this impressive structure has been standing alone in a farm field beside Woodbine Ave., but it will soon be getting some friendly neighbours. Three partners — Romandale, FRAM Building Group and Bordeaux Developments — are creating what they call "the most exquisite housing project in Canada," to centre on the cathedral and its golden domes stretching 20 storeys into the rural sky. The cathedral, to be joined by 1,200 high-end homes, stands on the former Romandale Farm where the late mining magnate Stephen B. Roman lived.
