Somewhere on the road to a better Toronto, the city's many laneways will have to become part of the trip. Though there has been much talk recently about the idea, we're still a long way from being able to take advantage of the enormous resource Toronto's alleys represent. But with the city expected to grow by several million over the next few decades, it's time to get serious about laneways. Certainly, there are plenty of sites and precedents to consider. Downtown neighbourhoods such as Cabbagetown, Kensington and Trinity-Bellwoods are full of possibilities.
