Dreary design hits sour note

Toronto Star

Despite being surrounded by some of the finest architecture in Toronto, Symphony Place at 71 Simcoe St. is as dreary a piece of design as you'll find in this city. Although it is directly south of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, William Storm's 1874 Romanesque beauty, and across the road from Arthur Erickson's gleaming but hubristic Roy Thomson Hall, Symphony Place brings little to the neighbourhood beyond its bulk.
