There's always talk about the monotony of present-day subdivisions and the lack of architectural innovation in house designs. Usual reasons given are unimaginative builders who are not willing to experiment, and consumers who are too conservative. From an architect's point of view, conservative buyers who prefer traditional exteriors rather than modern designs are one reason for bland communities of indistinguishable houses.
