Details of the design for the new Art Gallery of Ontario -- to be released at an official ceremony this morning -- will include a massive curved titanium and glass canopy that will run along the existing Dundas Street facade, says a source who was at the private unveiling for staff and volunteers yesterday. Nearly 200 people attended the tightly guarded ceremony yesterday at which renowned architect Frank Gehry's design was presented. A source at that event said it was a "party" atmosphere as the new design was unveiled. "It's a new Frank Gehry design," the source said after the event. "There aren't big gull wings and things or giant fish shapes."
