Re-imagining the Art Gallery of Ontario - again and again
If the history of the Art Gallery of Ontario is any indication, no one should regard today's unveiling of Frank Gehry's long-awaited redesign as constituting the AGO's ultimate form. The Toronto gallery has been a work in progress for most of its 104 years, and it likely will continue to be. In April, 1987, for example, the gallery, Canada's second largest, announced it was about to embark on what it called "its third and final stage" of development.
