Maxwell Starkman, 82, never forgot humble roots
He would never forget growing up hungry on Dundas St. in the lean 1930s. So it was fitting that Maxwell Starkman — who made a life thousands of miles away as a top architect of California's post-war boom years — finished his career by building a monument to memory, Los Angeles' Museum of Tolerance. Mr. Starkman died of natural causes last week in Los Angeles. He was 82.
