City's old distillery district mixes historic with hip
It's no surprise that Toronto offers few historic landmarks. Bulldozers and developers have demolished much of the city's architectural and cultural history. But the five-hectare enclave of industrial Victoriana known as the Distillery Historic District has brought back a taste of yesteryear. Situated south of Mill St., between Cherry and Parliament Sts., the district's 44 brick buildings are linked by cobblestoned lanes and a shared history of alcohol.
