The proposed master development plan for Notre Dame des Neiges Cemetery has been the subject of public consultation in recent weeks. Surprisingly, other than a few interest groups whose participation was to be expected, few Montrealers seem to be interested in the details of this project. This situation is especially unfortunate in that the proposals presented in the plan demonstrate an attentive and abiding concern for finding the most balanced solutions - solutions that combine the protection of the sacred heritage site of the cemetery on the one hand, with actions that respond to change on the other. In this regard, the proposed plan attests to the efforts made by the Notre Dame de Montréal Parish Council and its team of professionals to develop a program aimed at achieving the broadest possible public consensus.
