James Stirling Memorial Lectures on the City

Art Museum Network News

The Canadian Centre for Architecture announces the launch of a new lecture competition, a collaboration between the CCA and the Cities Programme of the London School of Economics and Political Science, in association with the Van Alen Institute Projects in Public Architecture, New York. This new program introduces an unprecedented form of competition for the advancement of critical perspectives on the role of urban design and urban architecture in the development of the urban environment. Following a world-wide call for submissions, an international jury of architects and urban planners will select the first Stirling Lecturer, to be announced in spring 2004. The winner will present a public lecture in autumn 2004 at the CCA in Montréal, participate in a colloquium on the same theme at the Van Alen Institute in New York City in winter 2005, and then develop the lecture for a second presentation in spring 2005 at the LSE.
