Art deco elegance to be echoed in new College Park condo redevelopment at historic department store site. The soaring ambition that led the father of Canada's leading retail family to envisage a 36-storey art deco skyscraper at the corner of Yonge and College streets in 1930 has found a modern echo in a massive pair of condominium towers going up kitty-corner across the square on Bay Street.. The Great Depression forced a major downsizing of Lord Eaton's vision, which was built, and remains, seven storeys high.
