Asper-inspired human rights museum calls for architectural submissions
The late Israel Asper’s last and possibly most ambitious philanthropic endeavour is a step closer to fruition. Representatives of the Asper family, the Asper Foundation and the three levels of government ceremonially turned the sod on Oct. 24 for the new $270-million Canadian Museum for Human Rights. A few minutes earlier at a packed press conference, the Friends of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights Inc. announced the official launch of a worldwide architectural competition to design the museum.
