The design of the new Royal Ottawa Hospital aims to provide a "humane mental health environment" in a building that will look more suited to a university campus than a hospital, says the lead architect. "We wanted to create a facility that was as non-clinical as possible," said Ain Allas, of Parkin Architects in Toronto. "The hospital does not look like any hospital. The centre core will feel like an upscale mall."
